Abuhamza Hossain of Albany was recently honored for excellence by an academic department at Hudson Valley Community College.
Each year, high-achieving students from each of the more than 70 academic programs at the Troy, NY college are chosen for special recognition.
Hossain was given the following honor/s:
The Academic Excellence in General Biology Award, which is given to a student who has shown particular academic excellence in his or her study of general biology.
Students are selected for honors by faculty and departmental administrative staff.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 75 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and workforce and academic preparation programs offered through the Educational Opportunity Center. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of nearly 13,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
