Adam Sanzone of Troy was elected to the position of Student Trustee in Hudson Valley Community College's Student Senate.

The position is a one-year term and runs through the Spring 2013 semester. Sanzone is a Liberal Arts and Science student at the college.

The Student Senate promotes and coordinates student activities, authorizes the establishment of new clubs, and promotes students' interests on campus. It also assists with a budget that supports the college's extracurricular program of more than 50 different clubs.

The Student Senate is led by a president, vice president, secretary and treasurer, and senators and officers are elected every year by the student body. In any given year, the Senate has openings for freshmen and seniors representing all four academic schools on campus. Students also elect a freshman class president and senior class president.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of nearly 14,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 65,000 alumni.
