Alyssa Decker of Latham Elected Freshmen Class President for Hudson Valley Community College's Student Senate

Alyssa Decker of Latham has been elected Freshmen Class President for the Hudson Valley Community College Student Senate.

The term of office for the college's Student Senate runs through the academic year.

Members of the senate work with administration and faculty guidance to promote and coordinate student affairs. They authorize the establishment of new clubs and activities, promote student welfare and assist with the annual budget that supports the extracurricular program of all clubs and student organizations.

Decker is studying in the Individual Studies academic program.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of nearly 11,500 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
