Armand Shaliu of Albany Honored for Academic Excellence at Hudson Valley Community College

Armand Shaliu was recently honored for excellence by an academic department at Hudson Valley Community College.

Each year, high-achieving students from the more than 75 academic programs at the Troy, NY college are chosen for special recognition.

Shaliu was given the Electrical Construction and Maintenance Club Award for Academic Excellence, which is given to a student in the college's Electrical Construction and Maintenance program who has achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average throughout his or her studies. The awarded is handed out by the Building Systems Technology Department.

Students are selected for honors by faculty and departmental administrative staff.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 75 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and workforce and academic preparation programs offered through the Educational Opportunity Center. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of nearly 13,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
