Arnela Mahmutovic of Albany Selected for Best of SUNY Art Show

Arnela Mahmutovic of Albany was one of four Hudson Valley Community College students whose art work was chosen for the 2015 Best of SUNY show this summer.

Mahmutovic is studying in the Non-Matriculated academic program at the Troy, NY college.

Open through the summer, the juried exhibition features artworks chosen by individual art departments across SUNY's 64 campuses. Included are works selected from more than 300 pieces submitted for the SUNY Art Student Exhibition Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 at the State University Plaza in Albany. The traditional areas of drawing, ceramics, painting, printmaking, mixed media, photography, sculpture and digitally-produced works are included.

At a June 9 reception, three Best of Show winners will receive a $1,000 prize, and four $500 honorable mentions also will be awarded.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 75 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
