Brittany Stone of Albany Honored for Academic Excellence at Hudson Valley Community College

Brittany Stone of Albany was recently honored for excellence by an academic department at Hudson Valley Community College.

Each year, high-achieving students from each of the more than 70 academic programs at the Troy, NY college are chosen for special recognition.

Stone was given the following honor/s:

The Dental Hygiene Professional Membership Award, Capital District Dental Hygienists' Association, which is presented to a senior Dental Hygiene student who has a 3.0 grade point average or better and is a resident of Albany, Schenectady, Rensselaer, Schoharie or Columbia counties. The award demonstrates the student's commitment to improving the oral health of the public through participation in professional organizations.

Third District Dental Society Dental Hygiene Scholarship, which is given to a resident of the greater Capital Region who showed academic excellence in the Dental Hygiene program. Funding for the scholarship comes from the Third District Dental Society.

Students are selected for honors by faculty and departmental administrative staff.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 75 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and workforce and academic preparation programs offered through the Educational Opportunity Center. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of nearly 13,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
