Heidi Pikcilingis of Schenectady Honored for Academic Excellence at Hudson Valley Community College

Heidi Pikcilingis of Schenectady was recently honored for excellence by an academic department at Hudson Valley Community College.

Each year, high-achieving students from each of the more than 70 academic programs at the Troy, NY college are chosen for special recognition.

Pikcilingis was given the following honor/s:

The Gerard A. Ripp Memorial Award, Hudson Mohawk Chapter of the American College of Dentists, which is awarded to a student who has shown outstanding leadership, scholastic performance and potential impact on the dental hygiene profession.

The Albert H. Stevenson Award: Dental Society of the State of New York, which is awarded to a senior Dental Hygiene student who has maintained 3.5 GPA or greater and demonstrated high standards of clinical proficiency.

Students are selected for honors by faculty and departmental administrative staff.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 75 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and workforce and academic preparation programs offered through the Educational Opportunity Center. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of nearly 13,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
