Jeff Sammons of Burnt Hills Named President of Habitat for Humanity chapter

Jeff Sammons of Burnt Hills was recently elected President for the Habitat for Humanity chapter at Hudson Valley Community College.

This student organization partners with local Habitat affiliates in Troy and Albany to build homes for those who otherwise could not afford them. Habitat for Humanity believes that everyone should have a safe and affordable place to live.

Sammons is studying in the Individual Studies academic program.

The college offers 16 intercollegiate athletic programs and approximately 50 chartered clubs and organizations.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers 75 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 13,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
