Joseph Nantista of Albany Honored for Academic Excellence at Hudson Valley Community College

Joseph Nantista was recently honored for excellence by an academic department at Hudson Valley Community College.

Each year, high-achieving students from the more than 75 academic programs at the Troy, NY college are chosen for special recognition.

Nantista was given the English Department Four L Award: Celebrating Language, Literature, Learning and Laughter, which is presented to a graduating senior in a Liberal Arts or Individual Studies program who has excelled in English. The awarded is handed out by the English, Foreign Languages and English As A Second Language Department.

Students are selected for honors by faculty and departmental administrative staff.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 75 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and workforce and academic preparation programs offered through the Educational Opportunity Center. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of nearly 13,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
