Melissa Kehoe of Watertown Honored for Academic Excellence at Hudson Valley Community College

Melissa Kehoe of Watertown was recently honored for excellence by an academic department at Hudson Valley Community College.

Each year, high-achieving students from each of the more than 70 academic programs at the Troy, NY college are chosen for special recognition.

Kehoe was given the following honor/s:

The Dr. Leonard Spiegel Memorial Award, which is given to a student who has shown exemplary academic success in the area of structures while maintaining a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. This student will also be continuing their education at a four-year institution in the field.

Students are selected for honors by faculty and departmental administrative staff.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 75 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and workforce and academic preparation programs offered through the Educational Opportunity Center. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of nearly 13,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
