Shane Batcher of Schenectady is active with the Engineering Science Club at Hudson Valley Community College.

The student, who is studying in the Engineering Science academic program, has been appointed a Co-President in the organization.

The Engineering Science Club, formed in 1977, helps engineering students broaden their educational opportunities through activities not normally experienced in the classroom. Activities include speakers, trips and social events.

Hudson Valley Community College has more than 50 chartered student clubs and organizations.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
