Students Honored for Academic Excellence at Hudson Valley Community College

Benjamin Bivins of Sloansville was recently honored for excellence by an academic department at Hudson Valley Community College.

Each year, high-achieving students from each of the more than 80 academic programs at the Troy, NY college are chosen for special recognition by their departments.

Bivins was given the Outstanding Mechanical Engineering Technology Student Award, which is given to the most outstanding graduate in the Mechanical Engineering Technology degree program of the Civil, Construction, Industrial and Mechanical Technology Department.

Bivins is studying in the Mechanical Engineering Technology academic program.

Students are selected for honors by faculty and departmental administrative staff.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and workforce and academic preparation programs offered through the Educational Opportunity Center. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of nearly 12,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
