Students Honored for Academic Excellence at Hudson Valley Community College

Emily Howard of Rensselaer was recently honored for excellence by an academic department at Hudson Valley Community College.

Each year, high-achieving students from each of the more than 80 academic programs at the Troy, NY college are chosen for special recognition by their departments.

Howard was given the St. Peter's Health Partners Award for Professionalism, which is given to the graduating student who upholds St. Peter's mission of compassionate care and healing. This graduate is committed to transforming care through respect, integrity and creativity.

Howard is studying in the Nursing academic program.

Students are selected for honors by faculty and departmental administrative staff.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and workforce and academic preparation programs offered through the Educational Opportunity Center. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of nearly 12,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
