Students Honored for Academic Excellence at Hudson Valley Community College

Anna Purcell of East Berne was recently honored for excellence by an academic department at Hudson Valley Community College.

Each year, high-achieving students from each of the more than 80 academic programs at the Troy, NY college are chosen for special recognition by their departments.

Purcell was given the Award for Academic Excellence in Anatomy and Physiology, which is given to a student who has shown academic excellence in the areas of anatomy and physiology.

Purcell is studying in the Liberal Arts and Science: Humanities and Social Science academic program.

Students are selected for honors by faculty and departmental administrative staff.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and workforce and academic preparation programs offered through the Educational Opportunity Center. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of nearly 12,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
