Students Honored for Academic Excellence at Hudson Valley Community College

Levi Kelly of Saratoga Springs was recently honored for excellence by an academic department at Hudson Valley Community College.

Each year, high-achieving students from each of the more than 80 academic programs at the Troy, NY college are chosen for special recognition by their departments.

Kelly was given the Donald D. and Mary E. Heckelman Memorial Award, which is given to an outstanding student in the graduating class studying in the Mathematics and Engineering Science Department in honor of faculty member Donald Heckelman and his wife, Mary.

Kelly is studying in the Engineering Science academic program.

Students are selected for honors by faculty and departmental administrative staff.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and workforce and academic preparation programs offered through the Educational Opportunity Center. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of nearly 12,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
