Students Honored for Academic Excellence at Hudson Valley Community College

Echo Goff of Schenectady was recently honored for academic excellence at Hudson Valley Community College.

Each year, high-achieving students from each of the more than 85 academic programs at the Troy, NY college are chosen for special recognition by their departments or by the college as a whole.

Goff was given the Award for Academic Excellence and Outstanding Service in Gallery Studies in Memory of Renee Capeless , which is given to a member of the graduating class who is studying in a gallery management course who shows academic excellence. The award is named for former Gallery Management student Renee Capeless.

Goff is studying in the Fine Arts academic program.

Students are selected for honors by faculty and departmental administrative staff. Several awards are given out college-wide.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 85 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and workforce and academic preparation programs offered through the Educational Opportunity Center. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of nearly 11,500 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
