Yaser Khalil of Troy Receives Academic Honor at Hudson Valley Community College

Yaser Khalil of Troy was among those recently recognized for academic excellence at the end of the 2012-2013 year at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY.

Khalil was the recipient of the RPI Joseph H. Smith Jr. Award, which is given to the most outstanding student in the engineering science program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's affiliated community colleges. Generally, the award is presented to the qualifying transfer student with the highest cumulative grade point average.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 13,250 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
