Hudson Valley Opens Comment Period for START-UP NY Expansion at HVCC North
Troy, NY (08/07/2024) — Hudson Valley Community College is requesting an amendment to its START-UP NY campus plan to take on another workforce partner who hopes to occupy a site adjacent to the HVCC North extension center in Malta.
START-UP NY was introduced by Empire State Development in partnership with the State University of New York to attract new investment from the private sector. Participating companies should align with a college or university's academic mission and START-UP NY plan and demonstrate their contribution to the economic development of the local community.
The program offers new and expanding businesses the opportunity to operate tax-free for 10 years on or near eligible university or college campuses in New York State. Creating synergy and partnership between businesses and SUNY colleges also helps drive research and workforce development.
The college hopes to partner with G&G Industrial Lighting, which provides innovative lighting solutions for a variety of industries, including transit, industrial services, transportation and agriculture. Hudson Valley offers several electrical and electronics-related academic programs.
A new Campus Plan (PDF) is available for comment by the college community, partners and stakeholders for 30 days, and comments may be made via email to startupny@hvcc.edu through August 31, 2024.
Additional START-UP NY partners with the college include: The Case Group, ZEPHYRx, Velan Studios, deFacto Global, Cellnique and Levrx Technologies.
