Hudson Valley Community College

The Capital District Educational Opportunity Center celebrates its 47th annual Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, June 27, 2013. The EOC has served over 60,000 individuals in the Capital District and congratulates its graduates, who, through their hard work, dedication, commitment and sacrifice, have achieved an important milestone in their lives.

A number of local high school students recently graduated from the Clean Technologies & Sustainable Industries Early College High School (ECHS) at TEC-SMART. The class of 2013, which is the first to graduate from this program, includes 21 students from Ballston Spa, Columbia, Schuylerville, Hudson Falls and Saratoga Springs high schools. The students have spent two years of study in a blended form of instruction that incorporates direct instruction with field experiences and research, providing them with foundational knowledge in the emerging technology fields. Students are dually enrolled in high school and college coursework with the potential of earning more than 22 college credits through Hudson Valley Community College. Graduates include:

Artwork created by nearly 65 artists was included in the 2012 Juried Student Exhibit at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY. The year-end exhibition, on view in the college's Teaching Gallery April 20-May 5, featured work by students enrolled in the college's Fine Arts Department.

Local students were among those honored May 4 at the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation Scholarship Appreciation Reception. The event honors and recognizes all HVCC Foundation scholarship recipients for the past academic year.

Students of Hudson Valley Community College's Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Technology and Architectural Technology programs participated in the Regional Student Steel Bridge and Concrete Canoe Competition in Potsdam in April. Sponsored by the American Society of Civil Engineers which has student chapters at each college, the conference was hosted by Clarkson University and SUNY Canton. The following local students designed and constructed a 20-foot long concrete canoe and a model steel bridge capable of supporting 2500 pounds in competition against RPI, RIT, Clarkson, SUNY Canton, SUNY Buffalo, SUNY IT, West Point, Cornell and ETS from Montreal:

Hudson Valley Community College Theatre Club's spring production, Dames at Sea, will run April 26 through May 6 in the Maureen Stapelton Theatre on the Hudson Valley Community College campus in Troy.
